March TreasureTress box

Hey loves!!!

Hope you all had a wonderful week.

With that said, you know what that means……it’s wash day.

As you know I have signed up to TreasureTress. A monthly subscription service offering 3 boxes for adults (Queen), teenagers (Tween) and babies (Mini – Me). The box is filled with 4 or more full size natural products for your wonderful tresses. So, if you’re a product junkie like me, then this is perfect for you as all the hard work is done for you. Relaxed hair can use natural products too!

The month of March is a Mother’s Day take over box with Gina Knight, packed with goodies from Aunt Jackie’s Flax Seed Recipes, Soft’n’free and EcoStyle.

As this was my first subscription box, I was super excited and couldn’t wait to open. I’ve always loved Aunt Jackie’s products, especially their deep conditioners but was excited to try out new products too (it’s the hair junkie in me lol).

I’m not normally one for co-washing, gels and even air drying, but as I’m trying out different styles and products throughout my hair journey, I wanted to give this a try. Especially since the EcoStyle gel has Black Castor and Flaxseed oil.

The ‘Purify Me’ Co-Wash Cleanser was amazing! It left my hair feeling super soft (not stripped), moisturised and smelling fresh. Its sulphate and paraben free with no mineral oil and no petrolatum which is big thumbs up! While it is a gentle co-wash, it also has Apple Cider Vinegar for thorough cleansing. As I usually wash my hair with sulphate free shampoos, I use a sulphate shampoo once a month to cleanse my hair and scalp, get rid of build up and start a fresh. This shampoo I felt did just that.

Now you know I’m into mixing my oils in my conditioners to give it some extra oomph, but I also love to make my own mixtures. So, with the ‘Fix My Hair’ intensive repair conditioning masque, I added half a banana, avocado, blueberries and the ‘Soft All Over’ oil. As my hair is relaxed and I hadn’t done a protein treatment in a while, it needed that extra goodness of antioxidants, Omega fatty acids and vitamins.

Finding a good conditioner is normally a challenge for me. I can never really find one that makes my hair feel soft after rinsing. But this + my own mix = heaven!

The hair masque itself is of a thick buttery consistency which I love and smelt exactly like the shampoo. A very lightly fragranced buttery smell. Left in my hair for an hour, I then rinsed with warm water followed by cold water to close the cuticle and lock in the moisture. Again, my hair felt soft. Applying a little more of the ‘Soft All Over’ oil before drying made it even softer to touch. It is a multi-purpose oil enriched with Coconut oil, Jojoba oil, Shea Butter, Grapeseed and Ginseng. This oil is also great for sealing in moisture.

I love blow drying but wanted to try something different by air drying. I have tried this method of drying in the past and my new growth was not having it! As the products worked so well with my hair this wash day, I thought it was a perfect time to try again. After watching countless videos on YouTube, I decided to give air drying another chance. Drying in 4 large twists, it gave my hair texture, thickness and I’m loving the loose wavy results.

The Soft’n’Free styling gel infused with Moroccan Argan Oil has quite a strong smell even though it is alcohol free. EcoStyle gel has a subtle smell. I had seen this all over Instagram and couldn’t believe I finally had my hands on it. I used both as a light hold on my edges but can’t wait to try on my sleek bun or a summer braid out. So, stay tuned for that.

Overall the products left my hair feeling soft and light. I’d give this box an 8/10. While the products were amazing, I haven’t fully tried out the gels yet.

Thank you Gina and TresureTress for a great box.

How do like guys like the products and which were your favourites? Tell me what you think and how they worked for your hair.

Happy wash day!!
